Former Donald Trump adviser Steve Bannon has filed an emergency request to avoid reporting to prison on July 1 after he was sentenced in October 2022 because he defied a House Jan. 6 committee subpoena. The request was filed in a federal appeals court in Washington, D.C.
In order to justify his continued release, Bannon’s attorney cited his intention “to vigorously pursue his remaining appeals” in the case. Bannon is seeking a decision on his request by June 18, a week from now and less than two weeks before he’s scheduled to start his four-month prison stint.

Bannon has already appealed the ruling in his case, but it was denied. If his request is approved, he will continue to remain out of prison and delay his four-month sentence.
The former White House adviser is one of a few associates of the former president, including former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani and former Trump adviser Peter Navarro, to face criminal charges.
