Americans continue to give President Donald Trump an extended honeymoon, including Democrats and those who voted for former Vice President Kamala Harris.

While saying that they don’t agree with everything Trump and his MAGA movement do, two-thirds believe that the president is putting America first as he resets the national agenda.

In a new McLaughlin & Associates survey shared with Secrets, 61% agreed. In comparison, just 28% didn’t when asked: “While I may not agree with everything that Donald Trump and the MAGA movement says and stands for, I think they are right about putting America and the American people first.”

The numbers bolster other recent surveys showing that more Americans than ever believe the country is on the “right track.”

Pollster Jim McLaughlin noted the wide political spectrum that is giving Trump the benefit of the doubt despite a wall of skepticism from the liberal media and the Democratic Party.

“This,” he told us, “explains all these recent polls where DJT has majority approval. After four years of [former President Joe] Biden putting our enemies and the elites first, Donald Trump is putting the forgotten men and women of America first. They liked it the first time and they like it even more after the disaster that was the Biden presidency. Two thirds say DJT and MAGA are right for putting America first. Including large cohorts of Democrat groups, 42% of all Democrats, 38% of Harris voters and 53% of black voters. Hispanics agree overwhelmingly, 68%-29%.”

McLaughlin added, “In spite of what the Democrats and their allies in the media are saying, the vast majority of Americans, a full two-thirds, trust Donald Trump when it comes to the direction he is taking the country and his focus of putting the American people first.”

The pollster said that the support for Trump’s agenda should impact the Senate’s consideration of the House-approved “big, beautiful bill” backed by the president and expected to extend tax cuts he instituted in his first term.

He also said that it shows the potential for Republicans in the congressional 2026 elections to keep control of the House and Senate, breaking the typical pattern of midterms.

“This is why in spite of the dishonest, negative attacks against the Big, Beautiful Bill it passed the House and is going to pass the Senate. The Democrats are going to have real problems in the midterms when Donald Trump and the Republicans are on offense and the Democrats running will have to defend supporting the largest tax increase in American history, welfare benefits for illegals, more reckless inflationary spending and putting the rights of criminal illegals over the rights of law abiding Americans,” he said.
