The Village People were named on Monday as some of the stars to perform in honor of President-elect Donald Trump‘s inauguration next week.
The Village People’s catchy hit “Y.M.C.A” inspired a viral “Trump dance” across TikTok and social media during the 2024 presidential campaign. The group will perform at Turning Point USA’s Inaugural-Eve Ball.

“HUGE ANNOUNCEMENT: Thrilled to announce that Village People, one of President Trump’s personal favorites, will be performing LIVE at the Turning Point Inaugural-eve Ball,” Turning Point co-founder Charlie Kirk announced on X on Monday.
In December, the music group’s founding member Victor Willis shared a lengthy defense of Trump’s use of his popular song and thanked the president-elect for boosting the song’s popularity.

“Y.M.C.A. was stuck at #2 on the Billboard chart prior to the President Elect’s use. However, the song finally made it to #1 on a Billboard chart after over 45 years (and held on to #1 for two weeks) due to the President Elect’s use,” he said in a Facebook post.
Willis added, “The financial benefits have been great as well as Y.M.C.A. is estimated to gross several million dollars since the President Elect’s continued use of the song. Therefore, I’m glad I allowed the President Elect’s continued use of Y.M.C.A. And I thank him for choosing to use my song.”
Turning Point’s event also lists Vice President-elect J.D. Vance, Donald Trump Jr., FBI director nominee Kash Patel, director of national intelligence nominee Tulsi Gabbard, podcast host Megyn Kelly, media personality Glenn Beck, and Trump deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller as making featured appearances.
