President Donald Trump has called for a special prosecutor investigation into the 2020 election, reviving past accusations that the election was stolen from him.
“[Former President Joe] Biden was grossly incompetent, and the 2020 election was a total FRAUD!” Trump wrote in a Friday Truth Social post. “The evidence is MASSIVE and OVERWHELMING. A Special Prosecutor must be appointed.”

Trump has maintained that he won the 2020 election despite Biden getting more votes, courts rejecting his election challenges, and the Department of Homeland Security’s cybersecurity arm calling the 2020 election the “most secure” in U.S. history.
Trump’s call for an investigation comes a day after Biden made a rare public appearance to criticize him.
On Thursday, the Trump White House chose to mostly ignore Juneteenth, a federal holiday marking the end of slavery that Biden signed into law in 2021.
Not taking the slight lying down, Biden made a rare public appearance in Galveston, Texas, where Juneteenth originated, to celebrate the holiday and take swipes at Trump.
“This guy,” Biden said in reference to his nemesis before pausing and making the sign of the cross.
“I played a role in changing the names of all the military camps that have slave names,” he continued. “What are we doing now? Restating those names. Folks, the darkness can hide much but erase nothing.”
Biden told attendees at Thursday’s service at Reedy Chapel-AME Church that he was motivated to change the forts’ names in the face of efforts to “erase” American history.
Whether by coincidence or not, just hours later, Trump was swiping back on social media.
“Zero Border crossings for the month for TRUMP, verses 60,000 for Sleepy, Crooked Joe Biden, a man who lost the 2020 Presidential Election by a ‘LANDSLIDE!’” Trump wrote. “This [election fraud] cannot be allowed to happen again in the United States of America! Let the work begin! What this Crooked man, and his CORRUPT CRONIES, have done to our Country in 4 years, is grossly indescribable! MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”
Biden narrowly defeated Trump in the 2020 election. Trump’s efforts to question and undermine the result eventually led to the Jan. 6 Capitol riot, which was the subject of multiple Democratic-led investigations during Biden’s presidency and Trump’s second impeachment.

Now the tables have turned. Republicans, at Trump’s urging, are investigating Biden’s use of an autopen device to sign pardons and executive orders. A second investigation could now be in the works, though it’s unclear at this stage what evidence Trump is referring to.
The Washington Examiner has contacted Biden’s representatives and the Department of Justice for comment.
