Gov. JB Pritzker (D-IL) hit back at President Donald Trump over the latter’s insults, arguing that both were out of shape.
At a Monday press conference, Trump laid into Pritzker again when the topic of a possible deployment of the National Guard to Chicago came up. The president targeted his weight, saying he should “spend more time at the gym.” Pritzker shrugged off the attack when speaking to reporters later in the day, boasting that he lives “rent-free” in Trump’s head.

“From my perspective, it takes one to know one on the weight question. The president himself is not in good shape. He ought to respond to that from me,” the governor said.
“I would say also that his personal attacks on me are just evidence of a guy who’s still living in fifth grade,” he added. “He’s the kind of bully that throws invectives at people, because he knows that what he’s saying is actually commentary on himself.”
TRUMP: ‘I REALLY WANT TO BE APPRECIATED’ FOR NATIONAL GUARD CRIME CRACKDOWN
Pritzker has long been a target of Trump’s derision, with the president’s attacks often incorporating the governor’s weight. In a June 2024 Truth Social post, Trump derided Pritzker as the “Rotund Governor” who “makes Chris Christie look like a male model.”
Trump has mulled sending the National Guard to Chicago after its deployment to Washington, D.C., as part of a wider crackdown on crime.
