Rep. Nancy Pelosi’s (D-CA) claim that President Donald Trump is being hypocritical in calling up the National Guard to back Los Angeles police when he wouldn’t on Jan. 6, 2021, was just ripped by the former chief of the U.S. Capitol Police on the day of the riots.
Steven Sund said that contrary to Pelosi’s claim on Tuesday that Trump “would not do it” when asked for National Guard troops to protect the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, it was the former House speaker who ignored his request for troops.
In a series of posts on X, Sund said that he made repeated calls for help through channels that Pelosi commanded and was “DENIED each time, leaving us underprepared for the attack.”

“FACT: I made 11 urgent calls requesting National Guard support on Jan 6, starting at 12:58 PM. Approval was withheld for 71 minutes by the House Sergeant at Arms, who reported directly to Speaker Pelosi. She caused critical delays, and now is shifting blame to @realDonaldTrump for failures she helped create. The record is clear,” he wrote on X.
“FACT: On January 3, I made multiple requests for the assistance of the National Guard to help secure the Capitol on January 6 and was DENIED each time, leaving us underprepared for the attack,” he added.
“FACT: On January 6, I was restricted by Federal Law (2US1970) from bringing in ANY federal support, including the National Guard, without first receiving permission from the Capitol Police Board, which included both Sergeants at Arms who reported to Pelosi and McConnell,” Sund said.

What’s more, Pelosi’s own daughter, filmmaker Alexandria Pelosi, taped her mother during their evacuation from the Capitol during the riots taking responsibility for the security crisis and lack of National Guard troops available to help Capitol Police keep peace.
Since January 6, 2021, Nancy Pelosi spent 3+ years and nearly $20 million creating a narrative to blame Donald Trump.

But on Tuesday, Pelosi told a different story. She said:
“On January 6, with violence against the Constitution, against the Congress and against the United States Capitol, we begged the President of the United States to send in the National Guard. He would not do it. Not only would he not do it when law enforcement people were being harmed, but some later died. He would not send it in when his an instigation, that he an insurrection, that he incited, was causing damage to those assigned to protect the Capitol and the Constitution that day, to accept the results of the of the Electoral College. That day, he didn’t do it.”

Trump’s calling in of the National Guard and some U.S. Marines to back up Los Angeles Police this week has angered liberals who have been critical of the administration’s arrest of criminal illegal immigrants in the city.
For several days, violence has hit part of the city as protesters have attacked police called in to break up the protests of immigration raids. Trump said he ordered the military forces after local and state officials refused to protect the police, immigration officials, and local businesses.
