The Trump administration is adding another illegal immigrant detention center in the country, this time at another location in the Midwest in America’s Heartland.

The newest one will be located in Nebraska, according to a release from the Department of Homeland Security. It will be the fourth detention center the Trump administration has said it will open since July 3, when a location in the Florida Everglades, dubbed the “Alligator Alcatraz,” started receiving detainees. The revelation of the Nebraska location, nicknamed the “Cornhusker Clink,” comes after the openings of the “Lone Star Lockup” at Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas, and the “Speedway Slammer” in Bunker Hill, Indiana.

“Following Alligator Alcatraz and Speedway Slammer, the Nebraska correctional facility marks the third state partnership to expand ICE detention space,” read a press release by the Department of Homeland Security.

Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem commented on the Cornhusker Clink, announcing the partnership with the state of Nebraska and the size of the facility.

“COMING SOON to Nebraska: Cornhusker Clink. Today, we’re announcing a new partnership with the state of Nebraska to expand detention bed space by 280 beds,” said Noem. “Thanks to Governor Pillen for his partnership to help remove the worst of the worst out of our country. If you are in America illegally, you could find yourself in Nebraska’s Cornhusker Clink. Avoid arrest and self-deport now using the CBP Home App.”

Nebraska Gov. Jim Pillen (R ) also commented on the new facility, stressing that his state was aiding in the implementation of the Trump administration’s vision of illegal immigrant enforcement. He also announced that the Nebraska State Police would assist ICE officers in removing illegal immigrants from the state.

“Today the State of Nebraska is stepping up its support of President Trump’s and Secretary Noem’s immigration enforcement initiatives in several key ways,” Pillen said. “I am pleased that our facility and team in McCook can be tasked with helping our federal partners protect our homeland by housing criminal illegal aliens roaming our country’s communities today.”

“I am also proud that the Nebraska State Patrol and National Guard will be assisting ICE enforcement efforts, as well,” he added. “Homeland security starts at home, and, just as when I twice deployed troops to secure our southern border during the failed Biden administration, Nebraska will continue to do its part.”

The Cornhusker Clink is being funded because of provisions in the “One Big Beautiful Bill.” The legislation set aside the financial resources needed to establish the detention center and the necessary equipment to house the detainees. It is an integral part of the Trump administration’s efforts to combat illegal immigration in the U.S.

“This agreement was made possible by the One Big Beautiful Bill,” read a release by DHS. “This law fully funded the 287(g) program and provided funding to secure 80,000 new beds for ICE to utilize when detaining and deporting the worst of the worst.”
