“To me, he’s just a normal grandpa — he gives us candy and soda when our parents aren’t looking,” Kai Trump, 17, told the crowd Wednesday after being introduced by her father, Donald Trump Jr. “He calls me in the middle of the day to ask me how his golf game is going and tell me about his.”

Kai Trump is Trump Jr.’s eldest child with ex-wife Vanessa. She is an avid golfer with a large social media following and attended Turning Point USA’s leadership summit last month in Michigan.

Kai Trump’s convention address comes a week after her uncle Barron, 18, went to his first rally for the former president. Barron Trump, Donald Trump’s only son with former first lady Melania Trump, received a standing ovation at the event in Florida.

“Grandpa, you are such an inspiration and I love you,” Kai Trump said Wednesday as the former president beamed in the audience. “The media makes my grandpa look like such a different person, but I know who he is.”

“A lot of people put my grandpa through hell, and he’s still standing,” she added.
