Israel Defense Forces claimed it hit the headquarters of senior Iranian officials overnight and early Tuesday morning in airstrikes. The military operation strike included hits on ballistic missile storage facilities, according to reports, as war rages on in the Middle East.
IDF posted an update about their military strikes on its X account on Tuesday morning.
“3,000+ strikes across Iran since the start of Operation Roaring Lion,” read the IDF post.
“Yesterday, the IDF targeted IRGC command centers, weapons storage facilities, and aerial defense systems,” the IDF said. “Overnight, an additional 50+ targets were struck, including ballistic missile storage and launch sites.”
Additionally, Israel claimed that its military hit an Iranian Intelligence Ministry headquarters building and “two intelligence headquarters of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps,” the Times of Israel reported.
Israel also announced that Iran had launched “waves of missiles” into Israel on Tuesday, Reuters reported. Air raid sirens were reported throughout Israel, sending residents seeking refuge in bomb shelters. In Tel Aviv, four people were reportedly injured in the Iranian missile attacks.
The IDF’s latest strikes come a week after successful military campaigns in which multiple members of senior Iranian leadership were killed in airstrikes. Among the victims were: Ali Larijani, secretary of Iran’s National Security Council, Gholamreza Soleimani, commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’s Basij unit, and Esmaeil Khatib, Iran’s top intelligence officer, and Ali Mohammad Naini, an Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps spokesman and deputy of public relations. Hamas commander Yahya Abu Labda was also killed in an airstrike last week.
Israel’s strike came on the same day that President Donald Trump announced the postponement of U.S. strikes on Iranian power plants and energy infrastructure. The president said he was going to delay the strikes “five days” after giving Iran 48 hours to comply with his demand to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. Trump attributed the delay to “very good and productive conversations” between the two countries.
TRUMP POSTPONES STRIKES ON IRANIAN POWER PLANTS FOR FIVE DAYS AMID PEACE TALKS
“I AM PLEASED TO REPORT THAT THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, AND THE COUNTRY OF IRAN, HAVE HAD, OVER THE LAST TWO DAYS, VERY GOOD AND PRODUCTIVE CONVERSATIONS REGARDING A COMPLETE AND TOTAL RESOLUTION OF OUR HOSTILITIES IN THE MIDDLE EAST,” said Trump on his Truth Social account on Monday.
“BASED ON THE TENOR AND TONE OF THESE IN DEPTH, DETAILED, AND CONSTRUCTIVE CONVERSATIONS, WHICH WILL CONTINUE THROUGHOUT THE WEEK, I HAVE INSTRUCTED THE DEPARTMENT OF WAR TO POSTPONE ANY AND ALL MILITARY STRIKES AGAINST IRANIAN POWER PLANTS AND ENERGY INFRASTRUCTURE FOR A FIVE DAY PERIOD, SUBJECT TO THE SUCCESS OF THE ONGOING MEETINGS AND DISCUSSIONS,” he added.
Iran, however, denied any talks had occurred. After Trump’s announced postponement, Iranian state media claimed Trump was dishonest in his comments and there wasn’t any “direct or indirect contact with Trump” and the president only made the announcement to not proceed with strikes on Iran after Iran warned it would retaliate by striking “all power stations in West Asia.”
