Houthi Prime Minister Ahmed al-Rahawi, the head of the Islamic terrorists’ political arm, has reportedly been killed by Israeli airstrikes.
Al-Rahawi was killed on Thursday when a strike from the Israel Defense Forces hit his apartment in the Yemeni capital city of Sanaa, according to the Yemeni news outlet Al-Jumhuriya.
“The IDF is acting forcefully against the Houthi terror regime, alongside intensifying operations against Hamas in Gaza, and will continue to act to eliminate all threats to Israeli civilians,” the IDF said in a statement.
Israel accuses the Houthis of taking a hostile position against the country since the war with Hamas began, sowing disruption and aiding the terrorist group’s allies.
Multiple associates of the prime minister — who is backed by the government of Iran — were also killed in the strike on the residential area.
The prime minister was the highest-ranking Houthi official targeted by Israeli forces this week, but IDF authorities are waging an open war against the Islamic group’s leadership, with several other ministers suspected dead.
Israeli officials believe they have also eliminated Houthi Defence Minister Mohamed al-Atifi and chief of staff Muhammad Abd Al-Karim al-Ghamari with a separate strike on Thursday near Sanaa.
That strike was carried out by the Israeli Air Force as ten Houthi ministers were gathering for a speech from the group’s leader, Abdul Malik al-Houthi.
Final analysis of which ministers, if any, were successfully killed in the strike is not yet available.
Defense Minister Israel Katz invoked the Biblical plagues on Egypt in his statement about the strikes in Sanaa.
“As we warned the Houthis in Yemen: After the plague of darkness comes the plague of the firstborn,” said Katz.
A source inside the Houthi Defense Ministry claimed to the Times of Israel that the strike was intentionally aimed at “civilian targets and the Yemeni people because of their positions supporting Gaza.”
Houthis began attacking shipping vessels in the Red Sea in 2023 following the outbreak of violence on Oct. 7.

The United States launched a bombing campaign in March of this year that largely neutralized the militia, eventually culminating in a ceasefire announced by President Donald Trump in May.
The rebel group appeared to violate that agreement in early July, when two ships were attacked by Houthi militants, resulting in kidnappings and the deaths of three crew members.
