Fired-up Bill Maher Backs Truckers, Rips Trudeau’s ‘Hitler’ Tactics

Comedian and political pundit Bill Maher continued his streak of blasting the left on HBO’s “Real Time With Bill Maher” this week, this time torching Canada’s Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his heavy-handed moves toward Canadian truckers protesting the government’s draconian COVID mandates.

Maher kicked off the show with a panel discussion on the trucker protest, suggesting there is more at play with the ongoing protest than just Trudeau’s vaccine mandate. As transcribed by Fox News:

What’s happening this week, it looks like, is people are understanding this is about something more than just the vaccine mandate. It’s becoming a big thing. It’s happening all over the world now. They’re thinking it might happen here in Washington on Super Bowl Sunday.

Panelist and author of the book “Woke,” multimillionaire entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy, agreed with Maher’s assessment, arguing that the “uprising” consists primarily of “everyday citizens” protesting against “the rise of this managerial class in democracies around the world.”

These are the unelected class leaders that ultimately, I think, are using the bureaucratic power to supplant the will of everyday – not only Americans but Canadians and Western Europeans too – and that’s why we’re seeing a fusion of both the left and the right here saying that, “Actually we want our voices heard. We want to be able to speak without fear of putting food on the dinner table.”

Maher suggested that truckers, in particular, organized the protest because they make deliveries to the people working from home during the pandemic. He was right — in the sense that the Canadian Freedom Convoy is much less about COVID vaccines in general and much more about a repressive Canadian government mandating what free citizens can and cannot do.

The acerbic suggested the “have-nots” are “p***ed off” at the “haves”:

You didn’t use that word “elitist” in your whole speech, but, like, that’s the word I think is on people’s tongues and minds. There is this idea, and it’s not wrong, that some people are staying home in their Lululemons [expensive workout clothes] and other people can afford to, like, wait out and get a free vacation and money from the government, and other people can’t. And they’re p****ed off — the people who can’t.

But Maher saved his most strident criticism for a blistering attack on Trudeau:

[Trudeau] was talking about people who are not vaccinated. He said, “They don’t believe in science. They’re often misogynistic, often racist.” No, they’re not. He [Trudeau] said, “But they take up space. And with that, we have to make a choice in terms of a leader as a country. Do we tolerate these people?”

“‘Tolerate these people’? Now you do sound like Hitler,” Maher said.

“And recently, he talked about them holding unacceptable views — I mean, c’mon!” “I think that’s what gets under people’s skin.”

Panelist and former Democrat presidential candidate Marianne Williams also weighed in, suggesting corruption at the top of the proverbial food chain, including “corporate elites.”

This is what people are angry at because the system is so corrupt. The system is so corrupt, and it’s not just corporate elites, it’s the corporate elites who are corrupting the system because of the money that corporation, their undue influence on a very, very corrupt government.

This corruption is so baked into the cake and, of course, people are angry, people are enraged and they are legitimately enraged.

Democrats making sense. Who’d a thunk? (And yes, random commenter on one of my previous articles, purposely lazy English aside, “thunk” is indeed a legit — and fun — word. Just sayin’.)

So what’s up with Maher? I mean, really?

A dedicated lifelong liberal, Maher has been on quite a roll throughout the Biden administration, earning what many of us would have thought was impossible, over the years: newfound respect from the right.

Consider the following:

As we reported earlier in February, Maher’s full-metal attack against Joe Biden, Anthony Fauci, and the entire Democrat Party over how wrong they have been throughout the COVID pandemic.

And in January, as we reported, Maher absolutely destroyed “really ignorant” Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor over her incessant COVID “fearmongering.”

And in a truly beautiful beatdown, as we reported in November, Maher ripped Socialist Barbie™ “lame and clueless” Democrat Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (N.Y.) and the entire Democrat Party a new one, this time over the left’s “plainly insane” “wokeness” nonsense.

Finally, Maher’s classic takedown in October of Biden’s ill-fated “Build Back Better” (massive wealth-redistribution scheme) monstrosity, in addition to the disastrous Biden Border Crisis™.

The bottom line:

Months ago, when Maher first began to tee off on his left-wing brethren, I suggested, as the old idiom advises— “Even a blind squirrel finds an acorn every once in a while.” Many of our peers were unconvinced of Maher’s “staying power” on the right side (no pun intended) of the issues facing America under the so-called “progressive” Biden regime.

Many remain skeptical — which I accept.

Except now, that no-longer-completely-blind squirrel finds an acorn or two on a weekly basis, often slapping the very hand that has fed him for decades, in the process.
