The Washington Examiner’s Joe Concha assessed how the Trump administration’s continued findings of government waste ought to be continued, as it puts the Democratic Party within “the 10 side” against the majority of the public in support of these cuts.
President Donald Trump and his administration unveiled further findings the Department of Government Efficiency has made in its work to make the government more efficient on Monday, with Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins detailing how the administration canceled a $600,000 contract studying the menstrual cycles of transgender men, as well as another contract that focused on getting more diversity and inclusion within the nation’s pest management industry. Concha, a senior writer for the Washington Examiner, assessed how this comes after Trump listed DOGE’s findings when he gave his address to Congress earlier this month, calling it “the most effective part” of his speech.
“I had to write this down: menstrual cycles for transgender men, $600,000,” Concha stated on Fox News’s America Reports. “You say, ‘Well, it’s a drop in the bucket when it comes to the federal budget,’ but at the same time, shavings make a pile, and as long as they keep finding these things, they should share it every time, be as transparent as possible because what it does is it puts Democrats on the 10 side of a 90/10 issue.”
Amid DOGE’s cuts, Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) said he proposed a plan to Elon Musk, who played an influential role in DOGE’s origin, to get back $500 billion that Congress had already passed. Musk expressed enthusiasm for the idea.

Concha also addressed the attacks on Tesla dealerships that are taking place across the country, which many have done to protest Musk’s work with the Trump administration. The senior writer compared those carrying out these attacks to those publicly supporting Luigi Mangione, the 26-year-old accused of killing United Healthcare CEO Brian Thompson, and that the United States is “a sick place” at the moment.

Additionally, Concha was confused as to why Gov. Tim Walz (D-MN) was cheering on Tesla’s stock tanking, specifically since the state of Minnesota has invested millions in said stock. He noted, however, that Tesla’s stock is “up 50 points” since Walz’s jab.
The Minnesota governor attempted to walk back his remark, claiming he was being “a smarta**” and his comment was in jest. White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt dismissed Walz’s initial comment on Tesla, suggesting the governor is living “a sad existence after his devastating defeat on Nov. 5,” referring to how Walz was former Vice President Kamala Harris’s 2024 running mate.
