The chairman of the Democratic National Committee on Thursday rejected any accusations that the party has an issue with recruiting young men.

DNC Chairman Ken Martin, speaking at a press conference, said that the Democrats’ gains among young male voters in recent off-season elections disproved the common notion that they are losing the demographic.

“I never want to hear again that the Democratic Party has a problem with young men,” Martin said, according to Politico.

He continued: “We’re going to keep working hard to keep them in our camp and our coalition, for sure, but we won across the board with every major constituency that left our party last year, and that should tell you something again, that the Democratic Party is back.”

Martin suggested that young voters in general are disillusioned with their economic prospects in the United States. Providing a viable alternative to the policies of President Donald Trump’s administration is now his party’s priority.

The DNC chairman urged his fellow Democrats to learn from this month’s victorious candidates — understanding the success of their messaging and platforms on a national level.

“In the same vein that we have to be running on lowering costs, making life more affordable, we also have to be hitting Trump, and I think that goes hand in hand with what Spanberger and Sherrill did really well on cultural issues,” Martin said.

He continued: “They ran mainstream campaigns all the way — they didn’t get bogged down in any far- left, culturally alienating positions that I think [Zohran] Mamdani really did get bogged down in.”

True to historic trends, the incumbent Republicans seem to be facing an uphill battle in the midterm elections as they work to convince swing voters that selecting Trump was a prudent decision.

This sometimes applies even in traditionally deep red areas of the country, such as Tennessee‘s 7th Congressional District — which Inside Elections downgraded this week from “safe Republican” to “lean Republican.”
