Detransitioner Chloe Cole said she is supporting former President Donald Trump because he is “committed” to protecting children from receiving transgender surgeries.

Cole, one of the most vocal advocates against children receiving gender reassignment surgeries, said in a newly released political ad that doctors tricked her into transitioning as a child. As a result, she lives with “irreversible changes” to her body and her mind, warning that Vice President Kamala Harris is campaigning to allow these surgeries to be available to other children.

“Today, Kamala Harris is pushing these children into these procedures, limiting their choices later on in life,” Cole said in the ad. “That’s why I’m voting for Donald Trump because he’s committed to protecting children from these rash decisions.”

The American Principles Project PAC paid for the ad.

Cole’s detransitioning history has been well documented, beginning her transition process at the age of 12 before reversing it six years later. She testified about her transition, which included a double mastectomy as a young teenager, during a visit to Congress last year.

The activist endorsed Trump in late May, joining the large number of people who voiced their support for him after a jury found him guilty of 34 felony counts of falsifying business records. Cole said the 2024 election cycle is the first time she will be old enough to vote.

In January 2023, two months after Trump announced his 2024 bid for the White House, the former president promised to end transgender surgeries for minors, calling the procedures “child abuse.” Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH), his running mate, introduced the “Protect Children’s Innocence Act” in 2023, which would have made gender transition surgeries for children a Class C felony.

Beyond promising to ban gender transition surgeries for minors, Trump has also expressed a desire to prevent transgender women from competing in women’s sports.
