House Democratic women chose to make a statement at President Donald Trump’s joint address by wearing pink, a color of “power and protest.”

The color could be seen scattered throughout the House chamber on Tuesday night, a stark contrast from the typical navy and black attire. Democrats have traditionally worn a color en masse to signal their support for different movements, with pink adding to that tradition as Trump delivered his first joint address since returning to the White House for a second term.

“Pink is the color of protest, power, and persistence,” Rep. Teresa Leger Fernandez (D-NM) wrote on Instagram. “It’s been used to protest both Trump and Putin.”

Last year at former President Joe Biden’s State of the Union, Democratic women chose to wear white to support reproductive access. The color was also seen during Trump’s first joint address to highlight women’s rights.

The Democratic Women’s Caucus led the charge at last year’s State of the Union Address to wear white, stating:

“Our message is clear: women must be able to access the health care they need to control their own lives and futures. That means women, not politicians, should be in charge of whether, when, and how to start or grow their families. That includes access to birth control, access to abortion, and access to IVF,” caucus Chairwoman Lois Frankel (D-FL) wrote in a statement.

The caucus did not release a statement this year regarding its members wearing pink or white.

AL GREEN REMOVED FROM HOUSE CHAMBER AFTER PROTESTING TRUMP ADDRESS

Several House Democrats chose another route of protest as they walked out of the address mid-speech. Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) left wearing a shirt that said “RESIST” on the back. Rep. Maxwell Frost’s (D-FL) shirt said “NO KINGS LIVE HERE.”

Many Republican women were seen wearing red at the joint address, but a GOP source told the Washington Examiner it was merely a coincidence. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), known for her MAGA outfit last year, wore a red hat that read “Trump was right about everything” for this year’s address.
