Crockett says ‘little red states’ contribute nothing as blue states put them on ‘life support’

“It seems like blue states are constantly putting red states on life support, yet we got these little red states that ain’t contributing nothing, but they are definitely taking up a lot of money,” she said.

Crockett pointed to Gov. Gavin Newsom’s (D-CA) complaint that his state was contributing more than it was receiving.

“And then you can go down south to states like Louisiana, who are broke and so they need California to pay in, so it is so interesting that we are so concerned about whether or not we are pushing certain ideologies,” she added.

Crockett’s remarks drew outrage from many conservatives, many of whom disputed the methodology of her claims.

Though blue states make up the majority of “donor” states, the top three biggest “recipient” states — New Mexico, Maryland, and Virginia — are also blue, according to data from the Rockefeller Institute, which appears to be what she was citing. Though most red states are “recipient” states, most receive far less than the biggest blue “recipient” states, with the amount of money received by the top trio more than 17 “recipient” red states combined.

Crockett, known for her inflammatory statements and antics, has also earned the ire of President Donald Trump. Earlier on Tuesday, he suggested that she and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) were the least intelligent members of Congress.

CROCKETT CLAIMS REPUBLICANS ARE WORRIED ABOUT ‘MAGA’ AMID POLITICAL VIOLENCE

“AOC, look, I think she’s very nice. But she’s very low IQ, and we really don’t need low IQ,” he said. “Between her and Crockett, we’re going to give them both an IQ test to see who comes out best.”

“Now, I took my test. I took a real test at Walter Reed Medical Center, and I aced it. I got every one of all those questions right. Now it’s time for them to take a test,” Trump concluded.
