Media personality Trish Paytas posted videos on Monday, mulling a run for Congress with the anticipation, “California could be good.”

The California-based content creator first mentioned a possible run in her YouTube video: 2026 MANIFESTATIONS. She later posted a TikTok to her almost 11 million followers, looking up how to run for Congress, as she explained why she has started to gain an interest in politics, despite previously not being involved.

“The idea of me being representative for the state of California came to me in a dream—in a vision, if you will,” Paytas explained. “It’s so vivid to me.”

“I never thought of myself as a political person until I started having kids and realizing, like, the world could be just so disastrous [and] dystopian for real by the time they get to be adults,” she continued. “I was like, ‘Alright Trish, enough just, like, shutting it out, being ignorant.”

Paytas said she needs to “get a bill to Congress,” with her main goal in California to make “adult work not be legal until you’re 25,” adding that she has “so many other agendas.”

Paytas did not specify which political party she would run under, or the district she would run in, but said her campaign slogan can be “California could be good.” It’s unclear how seriously Paytas is considering a run, but the very fact that she posted videos on the subject was enough to send social media into a mild frenzy.

According to Ballotpedia, to run for office in California, a candidate must have an intention statement and file nomination forms with their county of residence. The candidate must receive 40-60 signatures for nomination papers, but can also qualify by paying a fee of 1% of the first year’s salary for that office.
