Congressman Reports Object Over Lake Huron “Decommissioned”

Michigan Congressman Jack Bergman (R) posted on Twitter, “I’ve been in contact with DOD regarding operations across the Great Lakes region today. The US military has decommissioned another “object” over Lake Huron. I appreciate the decisive action by our fighter pilots. The American people deserve far more answers than we have.”

Canada had recently closed airspace over Lake Huron. That followed an earlier incident Sunday where the U.S. closed and then reopened airspace over Lake Michigan.

UPDATE: Canada says this was a joint NORAD operation.

“Defence Minister Anita Anand statement: ” Today, a high-altitude object was detected in U.S. airspace over Lake Huron. NORAD launched Canadian and U.S. aircraft to investigate and the object was taken down in U.S. airspace by U.S. aircraft.””

Rep. Elissa Slotkin (D-MI) previously tweeted, “Just got a call from @DeptofDefense — our military has an extremely close eye on the object above Lake Huron. We’ll know more about what this was in the coming days, but for now, be assured that all parties have been laser-focused on it from the moment it traversed our waters.”

UPDATE: Rep. Troy Nehls (R-TX), “BREAKING: The U.S. military has shot down another unidentified flying object over Lake Huron. We need answers now.”

ABC News confirms shootdown, “BREAKING: Another high-altitude object was shot down this afternoon over Lake Huron, U.S. officials tell

More via NBC News, “NEWS: The U.S. military shot down another unidentified object over Lake Huron, two sources tell @ckubeNBC and me. The officials say there are no indications of any collateral damage. The object went down in the lake and the officials expect to recover it.”

Video and photos reportedly taken from Petoskey, Michigan on the northeast side of Lake Michigan:

More from Rep. Slotkin, “The object has been downed by pilots from the US Air Force and National Guard. Great work by all who carried out this mission both in the air and back at headquarters. We’re all interested in exactly what this object was and it’s purpose. 1…/2/ As long as these things keep traversing the US and Canada, I’ll continue to ask for Congress to get a full briefing based on our exploitation of the wreckage.”
