After Chris Cuomo was fired from CNN in disgrace after having shown bias to his brother, Andrew Cuomo, in attempting to help the then-governor manage the public relations for his alleged indiscretions, Chris claimed that he wanted to “kill everybody including myself.”

“I have learned to accept that,” he said of his firing on podcast Open Book with Anthony Scaramucci, “I had to accept because I was going to kill everybody, including myself. Things can consume you.” Cuomo, who now works with NewsNation as an anchor went on to tell Scaramucci “Italians are so passionate and I really had to fight against that because… I got too many people counting on me.”

Cuomo joined NewsNation in July of 2022. Sean Compton, an executive of Nexstar, NewsNation’s parent company, said at the time that that adding Cuomo “will further our efforts to continue to ensure fairness and transparency in our news reporting and talk shows.”

“I’m going to come to NewsNation and I want to build something special here,” Cuomo said back in July.

At the time of his brother’s sexual harassment scandal, CNN said that the former Cuomo Prime Time star had violated its journalistic standards, which led to his termination.

However, Cuomo denied all wrongdoing at the time. “I never lied and there were no secrets,” he said.
