Statistics Canada’s December 2020 Labour Force Survey says that the country has lost 63,000 jobs in December—this following the reimposition of lockdowns in Ontario, Quebec, and Manitoba.
The unemployment rate has also increased to 8.6 percent, and the results as a whole show the first increase in unemployment and job losses since restrictions were loosened in May.
While Canada saw 36,000 new well paying full-time jobs, it also lost 99,000 blue-collar and working-class part-time jobs, CTV News Reports.

The numbers will likely continue to increase as provincial governments impose more restrictions and lockdowns.
