Biden Sends Another $2.5 BILLION In Military Equipment, 90 Strykers, 59 Bradleys To Ukraine

On Thursday the Department of Defense announced that the Biden administration would be sending an additional $2.5 billion in security assistance “to meet Ukraine’s critical security and defense needs.”

The move marks the Biden administration’s 13th drawdown of equipment from US military inventories for the country since August of 2021.

The US will be sending vehicles to Ukraine, including, 59 Bradley Infantry Fighting Vehicles, 90 Stryker Armored Personnel Carriers, 53 Mine Resistant Ambush Protected Vehicles, 350 High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicles, 12 ammunition support vehicles, 6 command post vehicles, and 22 tactical vehicles to tow weapons.

The US will also be sending munitions and defense systems including eight Avenger air defense systems, additional munitions for National Advanced Surface-to-Air Missile Systems, anti-tank missiles and 25mm ammunition for Bradley Infantry Fighting Vehicles, 600 precision-guided 155mm artillery rounds, 95,000 105mm artillery rounds, 11,800 120mm mortar rounds, 3 millions rounds of small arms ammunition, and high-speed anti-radiation missiles.

“The Kremlin’s most recent air attacks against Ukraine’s critical infrastructure again demonstrate the devastating impact of Russia’s brutal war in Ukraine. This package provides additional NASAMS munitions and Avenger air defense systems to help Ukraine counter a range of short and medium range threats and bolster Ukraine’s layered air defense,” the Department of Defense said.

The Department of Defense said that the US has “committed more than $27.4 billion in security assistance to Ukraine since the beginning of the Biden Administration,” and committed “more than $26.7 billion since the beginning of Russia’s unprovoked and brutal invasion on February 24, 2022.”
