AOC-Led ‘Squad’ Reveals Latest Strategy Designed to Give Joe Biden Midterm Election Nightmares

Two weeks ago we reported on how Rep. Cori Bush, a member of Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s so-called “Squad” of House Democrat radicals, made clear in an interview with Axios that she was about to ramp up the rhetoric on defunding the police, this despite the fact that Democrats credit their embrace of the movement with losing 13 House seats in the 2020 elections.

“‘Defund the police’ is not the problem,” Bush told them, apparently unaware that every reputable poll taken on defunding the police shows diverse groups opposing the idea, including African-Americans, the Latino community, and Asian-Americans. “We dangled the carrot in front of people’s faces and said we can get it done and that Democrats deliver, when we haven’t totally delivered.”

Unfortunately for Joe Biden, Cori Bush isn’t the only “Squad” member who plans on continuing to give him and the rest of the Democratic party nightmares ahead of the 2022 midterms.

At a time when rank and file Democrats are scrambling to contain the losses that are expected to take place in November, due in part to Biden’s disastrous “leadership” and the GOP playing it smart in the messaging wars by tying vulnerable members to the soft-on-crime far-left wing, it was announced Wednesday by the Working Families Party that Rep. Rashida Tlaib – an original to the “Squad” – would be taking the unusual step of giving a response to Biden’s upcoming State of the Union address:

The speech will put on display the deep rifts within the Democratic Party that have marked Biden’s presidency. Months ahead of the daunting midterm election, many Democrats are looking to put aside those differences in order to present a united front against Republicans. But the left sees an opportunity in this year’s primaries to elect a more liberal Democratic majority to Congress.

“No one fought harder for Build Back Better and a pro-democracy agenda than progressives,” Tlaib told POLITICO in a statement. “The work is unfinished and we’re not giving up on what our communities deserve. We need to get as much done for the people as we can this year, and elect a majority that can deliver for working families in 2023.”

Tlaib will also call for Biden to use his executive authority to cancel student loan debt and change the way poverty is calculated in order to expand benefits to more Americans, according to the synopsis of her remarks. She will end with a call to action to help elect progressives around the country this year.

Though the speech won’t air on any of the major TV networks, it will be broadcast on the Working Families Party’s Facebook page, where GOP operatives will no doubt be combing for material to use in upcoming campaign ads.

The Working Families Party and AOC also have a cozy working relationship, with them endorsing her and her endorsing them.

As I’ve said before, Republican strategists are no doubt celebrating the Squad’s plans to put themselves front and center going into the fall elections, because considering how it backfired on House Democrats in 2020 and how things are looking for them as it stands now, the Squad playing into the GOP’s hands by trying to once again make themselves the face of the Democratic party has the potential to make the number of anticipated Democrat House seat losses not just bad but historic.
