Alaska PAC accused of sending voter guide replacing Sen. Dan Sullivan with spoiler candidate

Conservative commentator Joe Hoft alleged Monday that a new PAC linked to a Democrat-backed spoiler campaign in Alaska against GOP Sen. Dan Sullivan (R-AK) sent mailers to confuse voters.

A photo Hoft posted online showed a mailer that promoted Democratic Sullivan opponent Mary Peltola and independent candidate Dan J. Sullivan, whose nearly identical name has become the center of legal disputes ahead of Tuesday’s election. The mailer said it was paid for by Alaska Values PAC. The New York Times linked Alaska Values to the Peltola campaign’s effort to recruit and promote Dan J. Sullivan to pull votes away from the incumbent Sullivan, her opponent in the Senate race.

The PAC has also been promoting Republican Senate candidate Gerald Heikes — also named on the mailer in Hoft’s photo — as a “Constitutional Christian Conservative” alternative to Sen. Sullivan, CNN reported.

Alaska Values PAC and the Alaska GOP did not respond to the Washington Examiner’s requests for comment. Multiple recent polls put Peltola at a tie or at least 2 points ahead of Sen. Sullivan, according to RealClearPolitics. Sen. Sullivan’s is one of a handful of seats Democrats hope to seize to end Republican Senate control in the midterm elections.

“[Dan J. Sullivan] will end the out-of-control spending, reduce taxes, and put money back in Alaskans’ pocketbooks,” the mailer in the photo says, leaving out the incumbent Sullivan. “He will also stand for Alaska’s fisheries, the Second Amendment, and the Alaskan way of life.”

The flyer also says Peltola “is running for Senate to lower costs for Alaskans.”

Despite the PAC professing to have conservative priorities, the New York Times highlighted it while reporting on an explicit Democratic plan to confuse voters with an alternative Dan Sullivan and an additional Republican candidate, leaving Peltola as the only Democrat listed on Alaska’s unique ranked choice ballot. Alaska Values PAC’s federal filings showed Peltola ally Jim Lottsfeldt requesting radio advertising time, the paper noted, though Lottsfeldt denied being part of a deceitful campaign or tied to the PAC.

The PAC was also registered by political consultant Thomas Datwyler, who is personally connected to other newly-created PACs attacking Sen. Sullivan, CNN reported.

JANEESE LEWIS GEORGE PREPARING TO BE SOCIALIST WRECKING BALL FOR TRUMP’S DC CRIME AGENDA

The Alaska GOP has called Dan J. Sullivan a “Sham Candidate” and filed complaints seeking to disqualify him, but Alaska’s Supreme Court ruled in June that he could remain on the ranked choice ballot. The independent Sullivan also got the federal government’s attention as it sued to have the election results nullified if he wins. A judge dismissed the lawsuit on Sunday.

“These are CRIMINALS who totally abuse the Laws of our Land, and are destructive to our Country at levels never thought possible before,” President Donald Trump said in a Sunday Truth Social post about Dan J. Sullivan and his supporters.
