Popular podcast host Joe Rogan slammed Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau for “demonizing” the unvaccinated, referring to recent comments the prime minister made that described those who have not had the COVID-19 shot as “very often misogynistic and racist” people who “don’t believe in science [or] progress.”
“The way Trudeau talks about people who are unvaccinated … he said they were misogynists and racists,” Rogan said to “The Joe Rogan Experience” guest Dave Smith.
“You’re in the demonized class all of a sudden,” Smith replied, according to Post Millennial.
“You are deciding — you’re taking people that have a perspective on a medical intervention, and you’re deciding that you’re gonna demonize them in the worst possible ways, with no evidence,” Rogan said.
“And, isn’t it something that so many of these people, like, say, the nurses who are unvaccinated, the truck drivers who don’t like the mandates — that they were the heroes?” Smith noted, to Rogan’s agreement. “These were the ‘essential workers,’ the health care workers. These were the people — in New York City, they were clapping at 6 p.m. everyday for these workers. And those same — there’ll be nurses who worked for a year-and-a-half of the pandemic, and they didn’t wanna get the shot, and now, all of a sudden, ‘You’re outta there! Sorry, hero!’”
Trudeau indeed slandered the unvaccinated as sexist racists last month.
“We are going to end this pandemic by proceeding with the vaccination,” Trudeau told a Quebec television station. “We all know people who are deciding whether or not they are willing to get vaccinated, and we will do our very best to try to convince them. However, there is still a part of the population [that] is fiercely against it.”
“They don’t believe in science/progress and are very often misogynistic and racist. It’s a very small group of people, but that doesn’t shy away from the fact that they take up some space,” the prime minister continued. “This leads us, as a leader and as a country, to make a choice: Do we tolerate these people?”
Trudeau’s refusal to relax heavy-handed COVID-19 policies and his divisive handling of Freedom Convoy protesters has hurt his standing with more Canadians.
The latest Maru poll, conducted from February 9-10, shows that only 16% of Canadians would vote for the prime minister based on the last two weeks, Edmonton Journal reported Saturday.
Some 44% of respondents also said that Trudeau’s latest statements on protesters against vaccine mandates, primarily the Freedom Convoy, have “inflamed” the situation, while 53% said the leader “looked weak in the face of threats to the country.”
“The last time I’ve seen numbers even close to this were in the final days of Brian Mulroney,” slammed John Wright, executive vice-president of Maru Public Opinion. “I think this could cost him his job.”
Wright said Trudeau’s numbers are tanking because the “Canadian public sees that our democracy is at threat and the very institutions that are supposed to be doing things about it are largely impotent,” adding, “I don’t think the prime minister gets it.”
Polling shows Canadians are turning hard against COVID-19 mandates and restrictions, though. “A new Angus Reid Institute poll has found that 54 per cent of Canadians now support an immediate end to all COVID restrictions in favour of treating the disease more like the flu,” the journal reported, noting that “the Trudeau government has resolutely refused to offer anything but minor relaxations to federal strictures.”
